T W I L I G H T  C O N C E R T S

The "Envision Twilight" Concert Series has been presenting summer evening entertainment, twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays, at the Fraser River Heritage Park since 1990.

Everyone will be guaranteed great entertainment with a variety of musical talent. High school bands and choirs, professional bands from across B.C., barbershop, rock, folk, and Celtic music makes an eclectic ensemble of entertainment. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket along with a picnic supper and enjoy the music. Treat yourself to dinner at the Blackberry Kitchen or indulge in fresh popcorn, freezies and pop, all available to make your evening an enjoyable one.

As a "by donation" event, this community event welcomes everyone and makes it it possible for everyone to attend. Thank you to our community sponsors!

hss Hatzic Secondary School
Hatzic Secondary School is proud to kick off the 25th Anniversary Season. Hatzic's award winning Jazz Band and Affirmation Choir will really get the Season off to a rollicking great start! Under the direction of Julie Alridge and Joe Heslip, these students will really get things started!

Bateman Secondary School
This marks Bateman’s first foray across the Fraser River to perform at the summer concert series. This band program performs regularly in the Fraser Valley community and features a notable Concert and Jazz Band.

Heritage Park Secondary Heritage Park Secondary School
Fresh from a season of great music and award winning performances at various festivals, this band program is ready to show its stuff on the summer series stage. The concert band and guitar band under the direction of Kim Grant have been busy travelling about the province performing and are happy to be hitting the stage at home!

Friday June 12
Laser Katz

This young band broke out this year performing at a number of coffee houses and concerts in the Fraser Valley. They feature a tasty blend of Rock, Blues and Jazz. The Lazer Katz boast a loyal following and will charm the audiences at the Park this summer.

Chilliwack Secondary School
This five piece Vancouver based band has an eclectic style ranging from jazz to blues to funk and pop. These musicians deliver a connoisseur’s blend of sonic harmonious magic, and a youthful, yet old school funk.
Friday June 19
The Cascadia Wind Ensemble
This concert band featuring adult and youth musicians wowed audiences at the Mission Canada Day Celebrations last year. Under the direction of Shannon Goldsmith, this community band has fl ourished over the last two years and is the perfect musical accompaniment to the stunning scenery of Fraser River Heritage Park.

Whichita Trip

A little Country Soul & a little Rock’n Roll, Wichita Trip combines the best of rock’n roll, classic country, soul and blues resulting in a potent brew of electric roots music. Showcasing original tunes and carefully selected covers, this group is known for its danceable tunes!

WAG Wag

Wag, an a cappella quartette will make you laugh and make you cry. There will be finger-snapping favourites like “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Sixty Minute Man”. You’ll hear sweet and well-crafted original songs like “Good Night for Stars” and “East Van Anthem”. Always engaging and deeply musical, WAG will delight the audience.

Kitchen Sync
One of Mission’s favourite bands, Kitchen Sync, returns for the 25th anniversary season. The Kitchen Sync is an eclectic group of musicians popular with the concert audiences. They always entertain with their music that comes straight from the heart and are all accomplished musicians in their own right.

Gary Comeau and the Voodoo All Stars
Hot and Spicy Louisiana Inspired Roots and Blues. The All Stars have been tearing it up with their original brand of swamp, roots, and bayou blues throughout North America. Often referred to as the "Swamp kings of the west coast", they will be sure to get the crowd going.

Inner Wild
With a plethora of musical styles, including blues, rockin’ soul, R∓B, swing with some latin, country and classic rock & roll to top it all off. Put on your dancin’ shoes and get ready to boogie, this is the band you’ll want to call to do it all!

Groovedaddy
The energetic 4 piece band playing favorite soul and R∓B hits from the 60’s through 80’s along with todays’ smooth jazz hits. This instrumental band featuring sax and guitar and a funky rhythm section and the occasional guest vocalist. Groovedaddy has been entertaining crowds at a variety of outdoor festivals and clubs for years and always puts on an entertaining show.

Deanna Knight and the Hot Club of Mars Deanna Knight and the Hot Club of Mars
Songs from the 20’s and 30’s come alive with Vancouver’s premier gypsy swing ensemble. Chanteuse Deanna Knight shares sultry vocals alongside the driving gypsy-swing rhythms and infectious hot solos of this talented band. Gypsy Jazz from traditional to the unusual.

Kenny Hess Kenny Hess
Kenny Hess is one of Mission’s true treasures and always a huge hit at the summer series. Although he is the vert busy producer of the Rockin’ On the River Festival, he finds time for a performance at one of the places he calls home, Mission. An avid supporter of our community, he was recently inducted into the BC Country Hall of fame. Kenny is always a grounded, dynamic, entertaining and endearing performer.

Roads Unknown
Local singer-songwriters Jennie Bice, Tony O'Hare, and Michael Jantzen are accompanied by Solomon Janzen to form a unique blend of country, blues, and folk that will please your palette. They draw audiences in with their thoughtful lyrics, sublime harmonies and infectious rhythm. With stick-in-your-head melodies and a playful stage presence, they create a musical experience you won't forget.

Bernie and Red Bernie and Red
Definitely under the crowd favorite column, this duo is fresh, original, funny and entertaining. Their concerts are a perfect mix of memorable, beautiful music and comedic mayhem. Audiences are left laughing, satisfied, and enchanted.

Bob Lily Jazz Quintet Bob Lily Jazz Quintet

Regularly featured at many regional jazz festivals and well known jazz haunts, this group pulls on the heyday of jazz influences such as Max Roach/Clifford Brown. The strong harmonies and driving rhythms make for an evening of groovy music. The member’s camaraderie, energy and enthusiasm are just plain infectious.

Ken McCoy Band
Making his debut at the concert series this year, local musician Ken McCoy is bringing his hard driving, good old time fun music to the stage. His award winning band brings the country and the classic rock alive with huge amounts of energy and personality. This concert will fill not only the fun quota but will guarantee that everyone gets their country music fix this summer!

1066 1066
This local much loved band performed at the very first Twilight concert in 1990 and they are back to celebrate the 25th Anniversary in style! 1066 has a slightly irreverent, light-hearted style that delights audiences. Music and humor is what the band is all about!!

Company B Jazz Band
This six-piece group of fine tuned musicians are Vancouver’s foremost vintage jazz harmony group featuring a female vocal trio (a la the Andres and Boswell Sisters). Company B has a vibrant energy that is infectious and they are chock full of musical talent and are the quintessential “cat’s meow”.

Longhand
Longhand has a varied repertoire ranging from high-energy free improv to melancholy tunes with beautiful melodies. Longhand explores a wide range of sonic possibilities with varied instrumental confi gurations like classic guitar trio to harmonica saw and percussion, or harmonica, vocals and bass to offer a few examples. Along with original music, Longhand offers their unique interpretations of jazz, blues and classic Motown tunes.

Valdy
Returning to our summer series, Valdy has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for almost 40 years. A man with a thousand friends, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to Texas to New Zealand, he’s a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life. Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards (Folk Singer of the Year and Folk Entertainer of the Year), a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit.

The Mighty Fraser Big Band
This group of 19 high-energy jazz musicians is one of the coolest bands around. They came together to keep the Big Band era alive in communities around British Columbia. Their repertoire ranges from the 40’s swing era dance classics to modern big band arrangements of various styles. We are bringing the swing era back to the park!
